"No braver or more noble hearted men ever lived than those composing the 62nd North Carolina Regiment of Infantry". The LAST Confederate unit to surrender. They refused to take the Union Oath. Also Rumored to be the Unknown 1rst Sergeant in the 10th Kentucky Confederate Cavalry (Diamond Yankee Chasers) Company F. Dr. Dana Dorsey of the Logan County, W.Va. Genealogical Society "Sergeant Greenville Justice left Logan County with a Confederate Unit from Kentucky in August of 1862(2nd Battalion Kentucky Mounted Rifles Company D)". Company D later became Colonel William S. Smith's "Rebel Bill" Big Sandy Partisan Rangers. During the Summer of 1862 many Logan Co. residence joined the Confederate Unit Company D of Kentucky as they were passing through! Here are some last names listed; Adjutant General for Kentucky Adkins, Bennet, Baker, Burton, Collins, Cyrus, Dean, Duff, Dyre, Estep Finley, Gardner, Green, Griffen, Hamlin, Harliss(Harless), Harris, Herald, Hicks, Holbrook, Justice, Larre, Levi, Massay, Mitchell Morris, Mullins, Murphy, McCoy, Parsons, Porter, Pennington, Poor, Ratcliff, Rose, Rucker, Riffe, Rite, Rutherford, Sexton, Stafford, Smith, Thompson, Walker, William, Webb, and Young. He died on 5 Apr 1865 in Asheville, North Carolina. He was a in Plantation Owner. He was also known as Green, Granville, & Lee. He was Richmond Va.
