Benevill Snyder Departed This Life Saturday Evening -- Dropsy Cause of Death.
Benevill Snyder, one of the old settlers who resided near Deemer's Cross Roads, died at his home at 7:00 p. m., Saturday, April 15, 1905. He had been in poor health all winter.
Dropsy was cause of hia demise.
Benevill Snyder was born In Schuylkill Co., Pa., November 17, 1823, and was 81 years, 4 months and 23 days old at time of death.
Deceased was married to Lydia Zimmerman in 1847. Unto them twelve children were born, seven sons and five daughters.
Three daughters and one son preceded the father into the Eternal Land.
The widow, sIx sons and one daughter survive the deceased. The children are:
- Sebastian,
- Jonothan,
- Isaac,
- Gideon, - Jess and
- Frank Snyder and
- Mrs. George Burkett.
Benevill Snyder moved to this section of Jefferson county fifty-two years ago. He was an industrious and hardworking man in his younger days.
Funeral services were held in the Chestnut Grove Lutheran church at 2:30 p. m. Monday, conducted by Rev. J. W. Myers. Interment was made in the Smith cemetery.

He married (first) Christina Viola Doney on 4 Jul 1889 in Emerickville, Jefferson Co., PA. The marriage ceremony was performed by George Zeitler.
Sebastian and Christina were later divorced (on 14 Mar 1901).
He married (second) Bertha M. Starr on 24 Jun 1902 in Brookville, Jefferson Co., PA. The marriage ceremony was performed by John W. Walker.
They had one child: Elizabeth (Snyder) Britton.
Sebastian died at the Hotel Lafayette in Erie, PA and was buried 14 Jun 1931.

Sebastian Snyder, a former resident of the Emerickville section, died on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Hotel Lafayette, in Erie. He was 59 years of age and is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Britton, of the Beechwoods.
The remains were brought to the Britton home and burial services will be held there on Thursday aft- ...[missing text in original article]... Rev. Mr. Brooks, of the Allens Mills Methodist Church, and interment will be made in the Beechwoods cemetery.
The deceased was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Niles, O., and the L.O.O.M. Lodge of Sheffield, Pa.

AN OLD SETTLER GONE.
Benevill Snyder Departed This Life Saturday Evening -- Dropsy Cause of Death.
Benevill Snyder, one of the old settlers who resided near Deemer's Cross Roads, died at his home at 7:00 p. m., Saturday, April 15, 1905. He had been in poor health all winter.
Dropsy was cause of hia demise.
Benevill Snyder was born In Schuylkill Co., Pa., November 17, 1823, and was 81 years, 4 months and 23 days old at time of death.
Deceased was married to Lydia Zimmerman in 1847. Unto them twelve children were born, seven sons and five daughters.
Three daughters and one son preceded the father into the Eternal Land.
The widow, sIx sons and one daughter survive the deceased. The children are:
- Sebastian,
- Jonothan,
- Isaac,
- Gideon, - Jess and
- Frank Snyder and
- Mrs. George Burkett.
Benevill Snyder moved to this section of Jefferson county fifty-two years ago. He was an industrious and hardworking man in his younger days.
Funeral services were held in the Chestnut Grove Lutheran church at 2:30 p. m. Monday, conducted by Rev. J. W. Myers. Interment was made in the Smith cemetery.

NOTE: His baptism record (Howerter's Lutheran Church, Northumberland Co., PA) lists his name as "Benneville Schneider".His will (recorded in Brookville, Jefferson Co., PA - Will Book Vol 3, p. 339) is written in the name of "Benjamin Snyder", and he signed with an "X".
