The Department of Welfare recently commended county commissioners for "improved conditions" at the county home. Here is the full text of a recent letter to Henry C. James, written over the signature of Ira J. Mills, director, Bureau of Homes and Hospitals: Dear Mr. James: On June 7, 1951, Mrs. Margaret S. Cramer, a representative of the Department of Welfare, visited the Potter County Home for purpose of inspection and consultation. In her report Mrs. Cramer noted that chest x-rays were taken of all residents and employees and that suspected cases were taken to the local hospital but that all test results proved negative. The Department shares your satisfaction in these results. Mrs. Cramer also called attention to the painting of the interior, the new draperies, and new shades, all of which have greatly improved the rooms. She stated that good medical and nursing care is given the residents who need it, and that excellent housekeeping standards are maintained. From her reports It was noted that the water supply on the second floor is now adequate in both hot and cold water spigots. The Department of Welfare is gratified to know that this difficulty has been overcome, and also commends the Commissioners for the improved conditions. Mr. and Mrs. S. B.
