Samuel was a farmer on the Hinckley Brook Road in the what was called" Middletown" in Grafton. In 1788, he was voted a license to keep a tavern, so he built & operated it on the location of the Grafton Inn. He married Ruth Moss on 4/16/1767 in Newton, Massachusetts Their Children were: 1.
