• Hot Time in Honeoye
Burt Andrews' Home Bombard ed With Big Fireworks.
He Throws Stones, and Miss Hardy, His -Worker in the Temperance Cause, Faints.
Information has just reached this a office that some time ago there was a lively time at the home of Burt Andrews, near Honeoye. Mr. Andrews has been for some time one of the leading spirits in the prohibition movement in this and other counties. In fact, up to this year, he was for some time chairman for this county of his party. For a year or more, Mr. Andrews has been traveling about the state with the Hardy sisters, a couple of young lady vocalists from Buffalo, or near there, giving temperance entertainments. For some reason, whether justly based or not, we have 110 way of knowing, some of Mr. | Andrews' neighbors and acquaintances have seen fit to quite severely criticise him, for spending so much time from his estimable wife and interesting children.
On the occasion referred to, Mr. Andrews had just returned from a trip, bringing one of the Hardy girls with him, which act disgusted quite number of the people living in the neighborhood. In the evening, presumably as a result of this feeling, quite a crowd gathered about the Andrews house, loaded with cannon fire-crackers and other bombarding implements of a more or less vigorous nature. There was hooting and yelling and the house was fairly covered with the missles of irritation and disturbance. Mr. Andrews was naturally very angry and he came to the front with a bunch of stones, which he threw at those whom he regarded as his persecutors. Miss Hardy fainted, and taking it all in all, it was an event long to be remembered in the little hamlet of Honeoye. We have not learned, however, that anyone was seriously injured. Mr. Andrews and Miss Hardy, it is said, left for their field work the next morning after the bombardment.
Mr. Andrews is still in the temperance work, but it is reported that he has parted company with the Hardy sisters..
