McCann-Vergason-Strong descendants (left to right): front Ada (Stephens) McCann and her children Lysle Roe and Kate; back Hattie Belle (Vergason) Weir and her daughter Mary Weir. The McCanns are descended from William Clark McCann (1833-1862) and Cynthia Maria Strong (1835-1915). Hattie is descended from Charles L. Vergason (1833-1924) and Cynthia Maria Strong. Ada was born Oct 1866 in Shongo, Allegany Co., NY. She died 21 April 1950. She was married to Levi Orange McCann (1855-1944). Hattie was born 11 Jul 1869 in Mecosta, Mecosta Co., MI, a daughter of Charles L. and Cynthia Maria (Strong) Vergason. She died 2 Apr 1934 in Olean, Cattaraugus Co., NY. (The family moved from McKean Co. to Michigan about 1869. The family moved to Potter Co. by 1874.) Her first husband was Ira Weir (1837-1900). She then married George B. Markel (1876-1940).
