Alvin M. Jordan, of 7833 Route 417, died Saturday (Oct 16,1993) at Highland Nursing Home, Wellsville, after a lengthy illness.
Born April 21.1927, in Bolivar, he was a son of Percy M. and Hazel V. Jones Jordan On May 31 1947. in Obi, he married the former Mary F. Carlson, who survives.
Mr. Jordan was a lifelong resident of the Portville/Bolivar area.
He was a World War 2 veteran, having served in the Army-Air Force and the Merchant Marines.
He had been employed with Stephens and Son Disposal of Portville and with Heritage Cutlery of Bolivar before his retirement. Mr. Jordan was a member of the Open Bible Fellowship Church of Bolivar, the Portville American Legion Post 814, and the Bolivar 4-C s.
Surviving besides his wife are five sons,
Donald E. Jordan and
Neil V. Jordan, both of Portville,
Thomas H Jordan of Bolivar,
Wayne L Jordan of Indiana, and
Kenneth L. Jordan of Wellsville;
one daughter. Kathleen M. Burke of Olean,
15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren,
seven brothers,
Cleo Jordan of Washington.
Forrest Jordan of Richburg,
Milton Jordan of Meadville, Pa.,
Lavern Jordan of Bolivar,
Lewis Jordan of Florida,
John Jordan of Colorado, and
Carl Jordan of Kentucky,
one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Trusty of Virginia,
and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers,
Mitchell Jordan,
Keith Jordan, and
David Jordan,
and a sister, Dorothy Chapin.
Funeral services were held Tuesday (Oct 19,1993) at 11 a.m. at the Obi Community Church with the Rev. David Wood (pastor) officiating.
Burial was in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar
