Snider, 89, of Great Valley, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at Absolut Care of Allegany. She was born on July 19, 1929 in Humphrey, NY daughter of the late Floyd and Pauline (Wilson) Rooks. Mrs. Snider was a graduate of Hammondsport High School. On December 1, 1957 she married Floyd C. Snider who predeceased her in 1999. Mrs. Snider worked at Burrell Cutlery in Ellicottville for 26 years as well for the town of Great Valley as their town clerk for 10 years and was also a town board member for eight years. She was a past member of the Sugartown EUB Church and the Great Valley United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher as well as financial secretary for many years. Mrs. Snider was currently a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of whom she received great care from its members through the years. She also enjoyed bowling, singing, and laughing. Mrs. Snider is survived by two sons; Gary (Doreen) Snider of Bemus Point, NY and Robert (Priscilla) Snider of Great Valley, NY. Also surviving are two sisters; Jean Dineen and Lois Fish, both of Great Valley, NY, as well as four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her loving husband of 41 years and parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Robert Rooks. Friends may call on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 9:30 to 11 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ellicottville. Funeral services will be held following at 11 am from the church. Burial will be in Green Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ellicottville. Arrangements are under the direction of Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St. Little Valley.
