He leaves a large family. - Contributed by Denise Hansen James L. Dexter From the Patriot, dated January 4, 1918: Contributed by Denise Hansen James L. Dexter, aged 58, well known Potter County politician, yesterday slashed his throat and cut his wrists in a fit of melancholy following a long illness. He is in a Coudersport hospital, and is not expected to live, his knife having cut the jugular vein. Dexter was one of Potter's best known residents, having held office as register and recorder, county auditor and deputy county treasurer.
