| In 1816 Isaac Lyman, N. B. Palmer, Peter Knickerbocker, Jacob Whitney, John Taggart and Calvin Ellis were appointed by the court to “lay off a road from a point on the State line through which the Genesee passes, and in a southern direction to the Jersey Shore Road near the ten-mile tree.” This met or was the beginning of our New York State road which was called the Pennsylvania Road and was also referred to occasionally as the Angelica Road.
