There is a Hamburg departure record and a New York arrival record for a Josef and Josefa Socha that matches the ages and dates of arrival for the subjects of your search.Josef, Josefa and Marianne (Josef’s mother) left Hamburg on November 4, 1880 and arrived in New York on November 19, 1880 on board the S.S. Gellert.They listed their last residence as “Schekerkow” (probably should be Schederkaw) West Prussia. Schederkaw is now known as Szadolki in present-day Poland and is located in the province of Pomorskie.Szadolki is located in both the gmina and powiat of Gdansk and can be found on a map about 7 kilometers west of the city of Gdansk.
