She was born March 2, 1919 at Phyllis, Ky. the daughter of the late John Thomas and Rachael Caroline Blackburn Justice. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Blackburn, one daughter, Ilene Justice, three sisters, Arminda Chapman, Fairy Opal Thacker and Marie Justice and six brothers, Okrey, Homer, Otis, Eartle Oscar, Phillip Andrew and Arnold Justice. Essie was a homemaker and a member of the Williamson Area Church of Christ. She is survived by one sister, Magdalene Varney of Cana, Va., one niece, Brenda Hess of Mt. Sterling, Ky. and several other nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, March 26, 2009 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry with Brother Charles Reed and Brother Donnie Estep officiating. Burial will follow in the Reed Cemetery, Turkey Creek, Ky. Visitation will be held at 5 PM Wednesday for the family and after 6 PM Wednesday for friends at the Funeral Home Chapel. A special service will be held at 6 PM Wednesday night. Pallbearers will be Doug Hess, David Varney, Kevin Varney, Donald Thacker, Donnie Estep and Charles Reed. R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry is in charge of arrangements.
