He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jonathan Penn. Born on June 27, 1935, Steve spent his childhood in Des Moines, IA and Goshen, IN. He attended Stanford University and was granted a degree in mechanical engineering from Tri State College in 1960. Stephen lived in Texas most of his life. He and his wife, Janne Benson Penn lived in Saudi Arabia three years where he worked for ARAMCO. Since retiring, the Penns have kept homes in both Texas and Michigan. Steve had a life-long interest in the outdoors and particularly loved hunting, fishing and the game of golf. He is survived by his wife, Janne; his children, Catherine (Steve) Penn Williams and David Penn, both of Tucson, AZ; his siblings, Pamela Penn of Scottsdale, AZ, Jonathan (Carol) Penn of E. Lansing, MI, and Christopher (Diane) Penn of Alameda, CA; his step-children, Catherine (Ron) Poore of Allendale, NJ, Karen (Brian) Mount of Tyrone, GA, and Mark Shackelford of CA., and nine grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Johnson Family Center for Cancer Care, 1440 E. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49444 or Harbor Hospice for the Poppen Hospice Residence 1050 W. Western Ave., Suite 400, Muskegon, MI 49441, or St. Mark's Medical Center, One St. Mark's Place, LaGrange, TX 78945 are appreciated. A memorial service will be held Thurs., July 23, 11:00 a.m. at Rothbury Community Church in Rothbury, MI. There will be a memorial service in Smithville, TX later this year in the Fall.
