He met the love of his life while in Germany, and they were married September 9, 1960. Judson spent 26 years serving with the U.S. Army. He then worked for the Potter County Board of Assistance until he eventually retired. Judson was an avid golfer, with him and his wife becoming “snowbirds” and spending many winters in Florida where he had frequent access to the golf course. He also loved hunting, camping, and gardening. Jud is survived by his wife, Helga (Pitz) Duell, and his son, Joseph Duell, of Knotts Island, NC. Jud was preceded in death by his sons, John H. Duell and Judson R. Duell, III. Judson was greatly adored by his grandchildren, Ashley, Breanne, John, and Kyla, as well as his great grandchildren, who all knew and loved him as “Opa.” The family has entrusted Jud’s local arrangements to the Thomas E.
