82, of 2369 Austinburg Road, Westfield, PA, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Born in Blossburg, PA, July 28, 1927, he was the son of Elloyd & Margaret Alice Parsons Foster. A 1945 graduate of Westfield High School, he was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Army of Occupation in Europe. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 40 years, retiring as Post Master at Elkland, PA. He was a member of the Austinburg United Methodist Church, the Knoxville, PA VFW, the Elkland, PA American Legion Post, the Valley 49ers Square Dance Club, served as a scouter for 5 Rivers Boy Scout Council, was former local police officer for Westfield Boro and Brookfield Township, PA, was a member of Northern Tier Recreation Association, a trustee of Woodlawn Cemetery Assoc and delivered Meals on Wheels for 15 years. He married Ava Payne on June 20 1948. She survives. Also surviving are his daughter and son in law, Karen & Wallace Zinck of Woodhull, NY, his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas & Dolores Foster of Cincinnati, OH, his grandchildren, Amy Druetto of Knoxville, PA, Michael Zinck of Enola, PA, Kelly Foster of Rochester, NY, Riley Kiersten, Matthew & Jonathan Foster, all of Cincinnati and 4 great grandchildren. Friends may call on Sunday, August 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY, where funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 11:00 AM. Pastor Sherry Good will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Austinburg, PA.
