Patrick K. Steffy, nine months old son of Raymond and Nan Feas-ter Steffy, Ephrata R2, died Thursday at 10 p.m. at his home after an illness of several days. An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.
Besides the parents he is survived by
two brothers, Michael and Garry, both at home;
the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Kathryn Feaster, Ephrata;
the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Steffy, Ephrata; and
four great grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Feaster, Sunbury; and
Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Stocum, CoudersporL.

Lester S. Steffy, 45, Denver, became Lancaster Countys 29th highway fatality, when the car he was driving went out of control and hit a utility pole along Route 222, three miles north of Ephrata, at 3:15 a.m. Saturday.
Steffy was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Paul W. Neidhardt, Denver deputy coroner.
A passenger in the car, Leonard Barnett, 47, whose home is in St. Louis Park, but who was staying at the Reams-town Inn, is in serious condition at Ephrata community Hospital. He suffered fractures of both legs and multiple contusions. Steffy, who was 45 on Saturday, died from a fractured skull. other fractures of the body and mternal injuries, Police said the car was trav eling south at an excessive rate of speed when the car went out of control.
The car veered off Ue road and continued for 183 feet before hitting a utility pole (UM AAnllMIIAM Va4 At AKA then continued 57 feet before overturning down an eight-foot embankment. Both men were employed by Kurtz Precast Ephrata, and apparently had been celebrating the holiday. They were believed headed for Lancaster when the accident occurred. Born in Ephrata Steffy was a son of Wendell Steffy and the late Emma Strauss Steffy- He was a member of the Roth sville Evangelical Congregational Church; Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Ephrata Lodge 1933; Denver Fire Co. Fraternal Order of Orioles, Denver Nest 54; and Reinholds Post 6759, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
At the time of his death, he was plant superintendent of Kurtz Precast Corp. He was employed by Kurtz Brothers Concrete Co. for 17 years.
Surviving besides his father are his wife, the former Mabel Smith;
a daughter, Diane M. Steffy, at home;
two brothers,
Raymond, Corvallis, and
Robert, Lititz R2; and
a half-brother, Norman Eckert, Ephrata. .
