Mildred was having an affair with one of the hired hands that worked on the Dairy Farm that Harold had from his father Verdette Holcomb. One day Harold came home early, unexpected by the couple, and caught them in the act. There was a child born from the affair between Mildred and the hired hand and is buried in the Cemetery with the marker Holcomb child even though Harold was not the father. Harold and Mildred divorced and Harold married Nira within the next few years.One more Tid bit of Information. Roy Ayer’s sent To Arizona for about a year, where she lived with the Glover Family because of the controversy and the rumors in Coudersport. Mildred showed up one day at the Holcomb farm many years after Harold had passed. I was just a young boy visiting his Grandmother (Nira Holcomb). I was present during the conversation that ensued between Mildred and Nira. Mildred told Nira that she came by to apologize for all the problems that she had caused throughout Harold’s and Nira’s Marriage.
