MARIE DORIS MAIURO OBITUARY
Marie Doris Maiuro, 74, of Ulysses, PA, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 in her home. Born April 4, 1935, in Williamstown, NJ, she was the daughter of George and Elizabeth McDonough Palmer. On June 16, 1953 , in Elm, NJ, she married John A. “Johnny” Maiuro, her husband of 54 years, who predeceased her on August 9, 2007.
A resident of Potter County since 1972, she resided in Ulysses since 1976. Doris and her husband owned and operated Maiuro’s Grocery in Ulysses from 1982 - 1992. A licensed beautician, she owned and operated D&J’s Beauty Salon in Ulysses from 1977 - 2007.
Surviving are: four sons, John (Robin) Maiuro, Jr. of Pensacola, FL, Gilbert (Brenda) Maiuro of Caldwell, ID, James (Cynthia) Maiuro of Coudersport, PA, and Robert (Cheryl) Maiuro of Perkasie, PA; two daughters, Karen (Frank) Harmon of Port Allegany, PA and Barbara Burkett of Newville, PA; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Stanley Palmer, William “Bud” Palmer, and George Palmer; and two sisters, Mary Laporta and Jean Dinovi.
Friends may call at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from 1 - 3 p.m., with Funeral Services following at 3:15 p.m. The Rev. Jason K. Reed will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Tri-Town Volunteer Ambulance, Ulysses, PA 16948.
