Alfred D. Councilman, Prominent Young Farmer and Business Man Died Friday in Blossburg Hospital
Alfred D. Councilman is dead.
Every life must end in the tragedy of death but when the grim reaper takes one who is in the very morning of life and whom it would seem had the promise of many bright and beautiful years, the whole community mourns.
On January 29th Mr. Councilman was badly hurt about the head and shoulders by getting caught in the belt of a running gasoline engine, used to operate his milking machine. (Continued on fourth- page)
SMALL ARGUMENT COURT Several Divorces Granted and Some Other Cases Settled
Mrs. Angie Rice, who lives in Newfield, Pa., was granted a divorce from her husband H. D. Rice through her attorney, F. A. Stebbins. Mrs. Rice, who was accompanied by Mrs. John McCracken and George Clark, who acted as witnesses for her, is a sister of Willis Carpenter, of this place.
Mrs. Bertha D. Erway was granted a divorce from her husband, Charles G. Erway. Mr. Erway will be remembered as the former proprietor of the hotel at Ulysses, who departed suddenly, leaving behind him numerous debts.
Medora Nelson was also granted a divorce from John A. Nelson. Libellent was represented by Attorney F.A. Stebbins.
Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Francis legally adopted Delia Eileen Bouck, who will take the name of her foster parents.
J. M. Spafford giving an affidavit of disbursements and settlements with all interested parties, in his first and final account of the administration of the estate of Addie Knickerbocker deceased, his petition for discharge was granted.
C. H. Armstrong was discharged as guardian of Robert Scoville, minor child of Harry A. and Metta Scoville. deceased. His petition was allowed to be filed in lieu of final account and prayer for discharge granted.
Mary Mantan, an abandoned child of Philadelphia, was with the consent of the Children's Aid Society of Pennsylvania adopted by Harvey E. and Nora J. Carpenter. She will take the name of Mary Carpenter.
An account of the sale of the estate of Verna Alta Wilkinson was allowed to he filed.
