He was born at Mung, N. Y., June 1, 1822. He came to Potter county in 1840, where he was married to Miss Elizabeth Tolland to whom were born three children: - Frank Gross of Cuba, NY: - Mrs. Anna Steele of Port Allegany, Pa; - William Gross of Olean, NY. Later he was married to Miss Emma Tolland to whom seven children were born. He is survived by his wife and six children: - Mrs. Mort Butler. - Edd Ii. Gross, - Miles C. Gross. - Clarence S. Gross - Fred G. Gross and - Robert H. Gross, all of Sweden and one step son, - John D. Howard of Eulalia township. The funeral was held Monday at 3 o'clock at the Chase School house under the direction of Schutt and Gillon. - Burial was made in the Sweden Hill cemetery.
