Ellamay S. Campbell, 92, a lifelong Coudersport area resident, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021, at UPMC Cole, Coudersport.
Born on Tuesday, April 9, 1929 in Hebron, she was a daughter of Don Gerald and Zeruah A. Harris Stearns.
On March 24, 1951 in Hebron, she married James H. Campbell, who passed away on July 20, 2012.
Ellamay was a graduate of Coudersport High School, Class of 1946. She attended Salem College in Salem, West Virginia, for 1 ½ years, studying Home Economics. She was a graduate of Westbrook Academy in Olean, N.Y.
She was employed at the former Brownhill & Kramer Hosiery Company in Coudersport, and also at the Tennessee Gas Land Office in Coudersport, and later at the former L.H. Lincoln and Son Company in Coudersport.
Ellamay and her husband then owned and operated the Coudersport Tastee Freeze for 10 years. She was then employed by Pennsylvania State Parks at Lyman Run and she retired from the Pennsylvania Forestry Department in 1994 after 16 years of service.
Ellamay attended the Coudersport Free Methodist Church (now God's Country Ministries). She was a member and former past president of the New Century Club in Coudersport and was a member of the Potter County Historical Society in Coudersport. She was a longtime volunteer for the Christmas House in Coudersport where she formerly served as treasurer, the Potter County Hospice and the Coudersport Chapter of the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed her flower gardens and knitting.
Surviving are a son, Curtis J. (Christine) Campbell of Coudersport; a grandson, Dennis J. Campbell of Coudersport; two sisters, Reva J. (Richard) Bond of Greeley, Colorado and Maralee E. (Olyn) Chaffee of Leraysville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ellamay was predeceased by four brothers, Clayton H. Stearns, Glen B. Stearns, Dick R. Stearns and David E. Stearns.
Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at God's Country Ministries, 1237 East Second Street, Coudersport, where a memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pete Tremblay, pastor emeritus, officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery, Crandall Hill, Coudersport.
Ellamay entrusted her care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
