Spending Furlough with Shinglehouse Parents
Cpl Robert Ahl, who is stationed at Fr. Meade, Md, arrived home Wednesday for a short furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ahl, of Shinglehouse.

PFC Robert S. Ahl, of Fort George G. Meade, Md, had been spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ahl, and other relatives in shinglehouse.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ahl, of Shinglehouse, have received the news that their son, Robert S. Ahl, has been promoted to the rank of corporal. He is stationd at Fort George G. Meade, Md.

"Safe in Africa," is the information received by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ahl, of Shinglehouse, from their son, Pvt. Donald Ahl.

Member of Merchant Marine Visits in Shinglehouse
Charles Barnes of the Merchant Marine spent a few days with friends in Shinglehouse and with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Barnes at Bradford.

Lieut. Loren P. Bly, of Portsmouth, Va, has been in the Naval Hospital with an infected eye. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Bly, of Shinglehouse have received word of his improved condition.

Convalescing in Rhoads Hospital
Sgt. William Ed Bell, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Bell of Shinglehouse reurned home January 18, after having spent more than two years in India.
January 22 he was taken to St. Francis Hospital, Olean, suffering from an abcessed liver. February 3, he was transferred to Fort Niagara Hospital, and on February 14, was transferred to Rhoads General Hospital, Utica, NY, where he is now convalescing. February 26, Sergeant Bell will have served three years with the Army air forces. He has two other brothers in service:
- Pvt. Calvin G. Bell, who is stationed at Camp Livinston, La, with an Infantry division and
- Cpl. Russell M. Bell now serving with the army air forces in France.
