He was working in the oil field near his home town when the fatality occurred, engaged in cleaning out a gas well. It seems that a wire cable is wound up on a huge drum, power driven, in this work and that in some manner Bump was caught and drawn under it. While Leo Prince and Lyman Holly were employed at the same job they did not see the accident and the unfortunate man was dead when found by his companions. Dr. R B Knight, coroner for Potter county was called to the scene and found the left side of Bump's head crushed, the skull fractured tooth front and back and left arm broken. He is survived by his widow and one child, his, father, three brothers and a sister.
