United In Ulysses Church
Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon D. Cole Jr.
The First Methodist Church of Ulysses was the setting for the June 13 marriage of Miss Karen Louise Freeman and Sp. 5 Mahlon Dean Cole Jr.
The Rev. Faith Orth performed the double-ring evening ceremony for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Almon G. Freeman of Ulysses and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon D. Cole, also of Ulysses.
George Morley was soloist and sang I Believe, Because and Wedding Prayer, accompanied by Mrs. Betty Lucas. Vases of white gladioli and orange-tinted carnations decorated the alter.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a full-length gown of bonded acetate lace. Styled with an empire waist, the gown was highlighted by ribbon and streamers at the waist. The peter pan collar and long sleeves were trimmed in lace. The gown was designed and made by Mrs. Richard Cornell.
A crown of seed pearls held her fingertip veil of silk illusion. She carried a cascade of white roses.
Mrs. Theresa Hancock of North Bingham was matron of honor for her sister. Her green dotted-swiss gown was styled similarly to that of the bride.
Miss Delores Cole, sister of the groom, and Miss Bonnie Butler of Sabinsville were bridesmaids. They were attired in gowns of yellow dotted swiss, styled similarly to that of the honor attendant.
Rita Freeman, sister of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a mint green dotted swiss gown and carried a basket of yellow pompoms.
Best man was Sp. 5 Dan, Johnson of Aberdeen Md. David Freeman, brother of the bride, and Curt Cole, brother of the groom, were ushers.
Approximately 200 attended a reception in the church social rooms.
For a wedding trip to their new home in Alabama, the bride chose a three-piece navy blue suit.
Both bride and groom are graduates of Northern Potter High School. The bride was graduated from International School of Beauty Culture in Bradford. Her husband is serving in the U.S. Army.
Showers were given by Miss Bonnie Butler in Bradford and by Mrs. Richard Cornell of Ulysses. Mrs. Helen Shutt and Mrs. Doris Thompson entertained in the Methodist Church at a shower.
Ambulance Calls
Saturday - Mrs. Myrtle Langdon of Ulysses to the Coudersport Hospital. Drivers were Kennth Hand and Robert Eastman.
Sunday - Mrs. Margaret Hosley of Gold to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre; drivers, Harold Martin and Jack Koch.
Monday - RoseElla Grover to Coudersport hospital; driver was Dexter Angood.
Ulysses Locals
The residents of our town were sorry to learn of the death of Mrs. Mildred Roberts of Coudersport. Her husband, Mr. Carlton Roberts, was for a number of years principal of Ulysses High School.
Mrs. Raymond Lehman entertained Wednesday for the 14th birthday of her son, Perry. Outdoor recreation and refreshments were enjoyed by Robert Whipple, Barry Flewellyn,
