AUG. 27, 1975
Wed In Park Church
Mr. and Mrs. Keith W. Baker
The marriage of Miss Shelly June Knickerbocker and Keith William Baker took place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 23, 1975) in Park United Methodist Church, Coudersport.
Officiating at the double-ring ceremony was the Rev. Donald H.G. Miller, pastor. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Myrl Knickerbocker, Coudersport, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Baker, also of Coudersport.
Miss Mary Ann McNary was organist. Miss Brenda Knickerbocker, sister of the bride, accompanied herself on a guitar and sang "Follow Me". Two vases of white daisies enhanced the sanctuary of the church for the wedding.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a bone-colored, polyester gown entrain fashioned with V-neckline and lace trim on the gathered, long sleeves. An inset of matching lace accented the waistline. A matching Juliet cap held her long lace veil. Her jewelry was a gold bracelet that was worn by her grandmother the late Maude Knickerbocker, when she was wed 64 years ago. She carried a bouquet of red, baby roses, white daisies, baby's-breath and scattered dried flowers.
Miss Brenda Knickerbocker, South River, N.J., was maid of honor for her sister. Her peach-colored gown of Trevira was Keith W. Baker styled with open neck, high collar, long gathered sleeves, and long, full skirt. A bone-colored picture hat with streamers to match her dress complemented her ensemble. She carried a white basket of peach carnations and white daisies.
Miss Nancy Russell, Coudersport, cousin of the bride, and Miss Kathy Evans, Westfield, bridesmaids, were identically dressed except in blue. They carried blue carnations and white daisies. The bride's mother made the attendants' dresses as well as the bridal gown and veil.
For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Knickerbocker selected a rose-colored dress. The bridegroom's mother chose a sleeveless gown of white lace over green taffeta.
Ronald Jones, brother-in-law of the groom, Glen Burnie, Md., was best man. He was attired in a brown tuxedo with matching peach-colored shirt. Ushers were Herman Orlowski and Thomas Pekarski, cousin of the bride, both of Coudersport. They also wore brown tuxedos but with blue shirts.
Approximately 200 guests attended the reception which was held in the Crittenden Hotel.
The new Mrs. Baker is a 1975 graduate of Coudersport Area High School and was formerly employed at Sears and Roebuck Catalog Store, Coudersport. Her husband was a 1972 graduate of Coudersport High School and a 1975 graduate of Olean Business Institute. He is employed by Circle Air Freight as an exporting agent in Ohio. The couple will live at Laurel Manor, 3106 Archood Ave., Cleveland, Ohio.
A bridal shower was given by Beverly Pekarski, aunt of the bride, and Brenda Knickerbocker.
4H CLUB
Aug. 5,
Kelly Sheehy led the pledge to the flag and Tami Shirey led the 4-H pledge for the Coudersport Doodlebugs 4-H Club. Roll call was answered by each member telling something about his or her project. Demonstrations were given by Maryanne Rhody, Mary Drapcho, Wanda Cizek and Robert Taft. The treasurer's report was given by Wanda Cizek. Exhibits made by the committee were shown to the members. The exhibits were for the fair. It was voted to have the club fair on Aug. 11 at Lyman Lake. After voting on the picnic all of the members that had sewing projects modeled what they made. The club band practiced the songs that would be played on 4-H night and all members finished their project books before they left. On 4-H round-up day at the fair everyone was busy. Members were displaying the brownies they had made, modeling the clothing they made and participating in Junior Olympics and winning many blue ribbons. Aug. 7, found the club members back at the fair for the 4-H program. Our club had a crazy band for our skit. Several members of our club received recognition for their accomplishments. Our club's queen contestant, Marie Cizek was crowned the 1975 4-H queen. Teresa Renko was the outstanding girl for 1975. She and Kim Wiltrout were two of the dress revue winners and will model their clothing at Penn State for the state dress revue. There were 21 at the club picnic. While there we went swimming and enjoyed a picnic lunch. We would like to thank the parents who drove us to the fair and to the picnic. Anita Cizek, reporter lAJotnen 5 (jof Twenty-nine women attended the weekly Red and Black Thursday at Coudersport Golf Club. Carol Wagner presided and thanked all those who had worked to make the Ladies' Open Day a success.
