James W. MILLIRON, 89, of Warner Robins, GA, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in Perry, GA.
Born Aug 25, 1925, in Shippenville, PA, he was the son of James F. and Annie E. Clark Milliron.
On June 23, 1946, in All Saints Episcopal Church, Brookland, PA, he married the former Elizabeth Maree Vaughan, who predeceased him on January 4, 1992.
He enlisted in the United States Navy immediately after graduation from Genesee High School in Genesee PA. In 1943 Jim became a heavy equipment operator in the Pacific with the Seabees until the end of WWII.
He graduated from the State Teachers College at Cortland NY, He then taught Health and Physical Education in Elkland PA until taking a job with the VA domiciliary in Bath NY.
In 1956 Jim went to work with the US Air Force, first at Wheelus AFB in Tripoli, Libya, the Wiesbaden AFB in Germany and finally at Robins AFB, where he retired as Chief of MWR in 1980.
Surviving are:
- a son, James S. of Warner Robins, GA,
two daughters,
- Randi of Gulfport MS and
- Marty of Warner Robins, GA;
four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
two brothers,
- Joseph of Tucson, AZ, and
- Thomas of Horseheads, NY;
nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Louise M. Carpenter.
Friends may call at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.
- A graveside committal service will follow at 11:30 AM in Genesee Cemetery, Genesee, PA, with Pastor Robert Walters officiating.
Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard.

Louise M. Carpenter, 84, of Ellisburg, PA, died Thursday, December 22, 2011 in her home surrounded by her family.
Born September 15, 1927, in Shippenville, PA, she was the daughter of James F. and Annie E. Clark Milliron. On March 30, 1946, in Urbana, NY, she married Calvin R. “Bud” Carpenter, who predeceased her in 1996.
She was a graduate of Genesee High School, where she was a cheerleader. A mother and homemaker, she operated a catering service for many years and served as a volunteer at Sweden Valley Manor. She was a former member of the Ellisburg Union Church, where she served as church secretary, treasurer, Sunday school teacher, trustee, and faithful kitchen coordinator. She was a current member of the West Union Mennonite Church. Louise enjoyed cooking, gardening, hunting, and was an avid sports fan. She loved her family and friends and she worshipped, praised, and adored her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and served as a faithful prayer warrior, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Surviving are: three sons, James Calvin (Jolene) Carpenter of Jersey Shore, PA, William Richard (Patricia) Carpenter of Forest Hill, MD, and David Clyde (Abby) Carpenter of Uniontown, OH; two daughters, Lois Ann (Robert) Walters of Ellisburg and Ella Loraine (Thomas) James of Stafford Springs, CT; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three brothers, James W. Milliron of Warner Robbins, GA, Joseph F. Milliron of Tucson, AZ, and Thomas W. Milliron of Horseheads, NY; nieces and nephews.
Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA.
Funeral Services: West Union Mennonite Church, 1459 County Route 84, Rexville, NY 14877. Her son-in-law, Pastor Robert Walters, will officiate.
Burial will be in Genesee Cemetery.
