Maxine L. Neefe
Maxine L. Neefe, 82, of Galeton, PA, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at The Green Home, Wellsboro, PA.
Born August 26, 1933 in Galeton, PA, she was a daughter of the late Danforth and Alberta (Wilson) Mattison.
Maxine was a Graduate of Galeton High School.
On October 24, 1953, in Galeton, she married Walter N. Neefe, who preceded her in death in 2010.
Maxine worked at Electri-Cord in Westfield, PA, Lois’s Diner in Galeton, the Sylvania Restaurant, and sold baked goods out of her home.
She was a member of the Galeton Women of the Moose, the Galeton VFW Auxiliary and loved playing cards, computer games, baking, and crocheting. She especially enjoyed making doll blankets for the Christmas House and lap robes for Veterans.
Maxine was a sweet, kind and funny woman and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Surviving are a son, Walter Bruce Neefe, Bilerica, MA; two daughters, Lucinda (Phil) Petty, Blandon, PA and Kimberly (Kenneth) Schaar, Germania, PA; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Maxine was predeceased by three brothers, Larry and Kenneth Mattison, and Dennis Goodwin and two sisters, Helen Schaar and Julia Knecht.
Friends may call at the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Collins Chapel, Galeton, on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 6:00-7:00pm. A VFW Auxiliary Service will be held at 7:00pm. A Private Graveside Service will be held at the family’s convenience.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Galeton VFW Auxiliary.
