Married Sixty Years Ago
MR. AND MRS. ASA QUIMBY
Oswayo, Nov. 4. - Mr. and Mrs. Asa Quimby, well known couple in the Oswayo Valley, are holding open house today to their many friends and neighbors, in celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of their wedding day. Asa Quimby was united in marriage to Miss Luella Sperry of Starks, Me., on November 4, 1880.
The Quimby's have resided in Oswayo for the past forty years. Mr. Quimby was connected with the International Harvester Company in his younger days and was also a dealer in raw furs.
During the past summer Mr. and Mrs. Quimby, in company with their daughter, Mrs. Edith Davis of Shinglehouse, took a 2,000 mile trip up through the New England States to visit the scenes of their childhood. They also visited Boston and Providence and spent two days at the New York World's Fair. Mrs. Quimby, who is eighty years of age, enjoyed a reunion with her sister, Mrs. Sarah Moore of Starks, Me, who is eighty-four years old.
Mr. Quimby will be eighty-one years of age next March.
The couple have two children living.
- Mrs. Bertha Mulgrew of Buffalo, and
- Mrs. Edith Davis of Shinglehouse.
They have three grandchildren,
- Darrell Davis and
- Carrol Wilcox of Shinglehouse.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Quimby enjoy good health and are quite active in the affairs of the United Brethren church in Oswayo. Olean Times-Herald.
