Swift passed away at his home near Rixford, Pa., March 15, 1954 at the age of 85 years. He was, born at Qswayo, Feb. 20, 1869, the son of the late Elijah Swift and Augusta Hinton Swift. Mr. Swift was a resident of Potter County for many years. In his earlier years he was interested in the various branches of lumbering. He was united in marriage to Lena Christman July 4, 1890. She preceded him in death 46 years ago. To thos union two children were born, - Mrs. Clayton Gillmer of Millport, surviving and - a little son, who died in infancy. For the past several years Mr. Swift had been a resident of McKean County, interested in the gas and oil fields, a driller and contractor. He had been in failing health for some time. Having four times married, he is now survived, by his present widow, Gertie Stull Hopper Swift and her three children, - Victor and Maxwell Hopper of Eldred and - Mrs. Dave Fischer of Olean.
