Dean Yeager, 71, of Prentisvale Road, passed away Sunday (July 3, 2016) at home surrounded by his family following a lengthy illness.
Born May 18, 1945, in Bradford, he was a son of Herbert and Velma Westover Yeager.
Dean was a 1963 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School.
Mr. Yeager was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam era.
He was employed for many years as a “breadman” delivery truck driver for Stroehmann Bread in Olean, N.Y. He was later employed by Lowe’s and Wal-Mart stores in North Carolina and Olean until his retirement. Dean was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Sartwell and St. Raphael Church in Eldred, where he also served as a lector and Eucharistic minister . . .
Surviving are four sons,
- Leonard Dean Yeager of Atlanta, Ga.,
- Douglas (Cindy) Yeager of Olean,
- Mark (Shannon) Yeager of Dayton, Tenn., and
- Michael Iresabal of Olean;
three daughters,
- Kelly (Don) Rigsbee of Timberlake, N.C.,
- Rachel (Mark) Wright of Mount Jewett and
- Deena (Justin) Watts of Duke Center;
11 grandchildren, Khristine, Derik, Karissa, Bryant, Hailey, Marcus, Chelsea, Markus, Kelsey, Helena and Naelynn;
seven great-grandchildren;
two brothers,
- Herbert “Red” (Nancy) Yeager of Rew and
- Robert Edward (Nancy) Yeager of Prentisvale;
and many nieces and nephews,
one of whom, Rick Yeager of Derrick City, was like a brother to Dean. Also surviving is his lifelong friend, Jim Freer of Washington state.
