That old, old game of putting a bundle of cash in a grip has again been put over by a quari.et of crooks and Mike Jaros, for some 25 years a resident at the tannery, is $850 poorer. This no doubt represents the life-time savings cf an old man. The start of the affair was when a stranger appeared and wanted to sell a farm to Jaros. As the Enterprise gets the story at press time this morning, this stranger made two or three trips and finally Jaros was induced to come to Coudersport and draw $850 from the bank. A second, man appeared and together they talked of fortunes made in oil. Jaros put his cash into a grip, counting it carefully as he did so. Jaros was not to open this for fifteen minutes. The party was at Reed Run at the time and the victim was to find $2400 when the grip was opened. Later the grip was opened but in place of the large sum promised there was a package of newspaper strips around which was wrapped four one-dollar bills. The authorities are working on the case, but so far no arrests have been made.
