In the present instance the bad master was gas. About four o'clock Friday afternoon George Olmsted removed an inch gas main connecting the pipe back of the meter which was under the porch of the residence of Michael Fath. That's all Olmsted can tell you about what happened as he was probably stunned by the force of the explosion. He told the ladies when they hurried out that there was nothing wrong only a little Are in the bags near him. The force of the explosion can be realized when the stones were blown from the wall of the house and even the joists were broken, while the floor was raised several inches, A large plate glass window in the front of the house was blown to bits and they were scattered far and wide. Within the house many strange antics of the gas were noted. A center table was blown to the ceiling and landed a little to one side of its original location top downward. Pictures were wrecked, curtains torn and bric-a brac was scattered here and there and everything about the rooms affected by the blow up. The hall way, kitchen and pantry were so badly damaged that they will have to be entirely replastered and papered. In the sitting room, which wonderful to relate was not in the least affected by the explosion, sat Mrs. Fath, Helen, her daughter and Mrs. Bates, who happily for all concerned were uninjured. The damage is being repaired as rapidly as possible.
