Austin Man Charged With Assault and Battery
Peter Plesz of Austin was before Justice W. C. Klein yesterday for a hearing, charged with aggravated assault and battery on the person of Peter Myers, also of Austin. John Rydesky of Emporium was attorney for the defendant. It was stated that Mr. Myers was a hospital patient for several days as a result of the encounter. The case was continued for the present and bail continued.
Received Sad News of Death of Mother
C. J. Gooch received the sad news Tuesday that his mother, Mrs. S. F. Gooch had died at her home at Mannington, W. Va. She was 83 years of age. She is survived by five children. Burial will be made at Mannington, Thursday. She formerly lived here with her son. Mr. and Mrs. Gooch left for Mannington yesterday morning.
... Dr. McGee is a graduate of Notre Dame University and St. Louis University School of Medicine. One year of internship was served in the St. Louis City Hospital and until 1940 he was in general practice in Missouri and North Dakota when he enlisted in the Army Medical Corps.
Dr. McGee served six years in the Army, and since his discharge last January, has been in practice at Austin.
Louis Kolat Faces Very Serious Charge
Louis Kolat, about 40, was arrested, charged with assault and attempt to ravish a girl of 17 years. He was given a hearing before Justice W. C. Klein Tuesday evening and held for court with bail fixed at $500. He was committed to jail but later released when he deposited the required sum in cash. Kolat was arrested by Chief Earl B. Smith.
Schutt and daughter Nancy, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barnett, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Partridge, Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Lyman, L. H. Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Wells and two children.
New Taproom
Port O' Call Conversion Includes New Construction.
Port O' Call, Ladona restaurant, opens its new taproom today, the owners announced yesterday.
The change-over includes a newly-constructed dance floor containing eight booths and ten tables. Cost of the addition was not disclosed.
Occupying the space formerly devoted to the dining room, the mod ern, well-appointed bar is in the front of the building. An entrance leads into the new addition.
Port O' Call is owned and operated by Thomas and Arnold Powell, brothers, and Jay Johns.

Fred Brehmer, Resident Here Over Eighty Years Dies Monday.
One of Coudersport's oldest residents, Frederick H. Brehmer, passed away just before noon on Monday, (Feb. 13, 1961). He had been ill some two years.
Fred Brehmer had resided in Coudersport for 80 of his 88 years. During his long and active life he was engaged in plumbing and as a tinner. He had been an enthusiastic member of the volunteer fire department since 1892 -- sixty-nine years of service.
Mr. Brehmer was born in Coudersport, July 10, 1872, a son of George and Frederica Brehmer. He took as his wife, Katherine J. Hay at Brookville, Pa., on Oct. 17, 1902. Mrs. Brehmer died April 26, 1954.
Survivors are two daughters,
- Mrs. Lucille Mayers, Coudersport, and
- Mrs. Helen Broadwater, Philadelphia.
There are a grandson and two great grandchildren.
Friends are being received at the Grabe Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the funeral home. The Rev. John C. Moore will officiate.
