Like · Reply · 23h John Christy Wetzel John Benjamin Glace, ca 11 Apr 1850 - 19 Okt 1912, carpenter in Allegany Township, son of Johnathon Glace, 1802 - 1881, shoe-maker in Allegany Township. J.B. was my 1st cousin 4x removed, his father, Johnathon, the husband of my 4th great aunt, Esther Snyder Glace. Jasper M. Spafford (J.M., "step 1st cousin of Jonathan Glace", husband of my 4th great aunt) still owns land at the fairgrounds in 1893, per this land owner map published under the superintendence of F.W. Beers by J.W. Vose & Co. in 1893 and used with permission of Ancestor Tracks. Add a 'b' to 'Schilderger' and you get 'Schildberger', the actual land owner. No photo description available. Like · Reply · 19h Linda Gamble John Christy Wetzel John my grandfather was Lynn Neefe they owned a big farm on Sweden Hill where my mother was born then later moved to Rt. 6 Sweden Valley. 1Like · Reply · 8h John Christy Wetzel Henry S. Schildberger, born 24 Aug 1824 in Darmstadt, Hessen, Germany, immigrated 1846, age 22. Was a cigar maker in NYC in 1850 at least through 1866, naturalized there in 1854. He shows up in Coudersport in the 1900 census, divorced, but still a cigar maker. Henry married in 1870 Louisa Fischer, who had immigrated Nov 1857 from Bremerhaven aboard the passenger ship Richard Cobden; she was listed on the passenger list as a cook. Louisa was born 12 Aug 1832 in Prussia and died 06 Oct 1922 at the age of 90. They are both buried in the Eulalia Cemetery. I'm not finding any references on-line regarding land ownership, besides these maps, so this will have to continue later.
