"Wes" VanAuken Dead
John Wesley Van Auken, who was well known in Delaware Twsp., died at his home in Sandyston Twsp., Sussex Co., N J, just across the river from Dingman's Ferry on Sat. A.M. after an illness of 6 weeks -aged 89 yrs.The funeral was held from the home on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Vandeberg of Port Jervis officiating. Burial was in Delaware Cemetery.Deceased was born near Walpack, N.J., his father coming to this section from Susquehanna Co., Pa (sic). Sixty years ago he married Mary Fuller of Dingmans and had since followed farm life, living on the farm here he died. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Layton of this place and Mrs. Irving G. Angle at home, also a half brother Horace(sic) VanAuken of Bethleham. Mrs. George Smith and Mrs. Nancy Armstrongof Milford are nieces of the deceased. Milford Dispatch Dec. 6, 1926.

Mrs. Mary S. Van Auken, eighty seven years old died Satuarday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fannie Angle, near Layton after an illness of several months. Mrs. Van Auken was the widow of John Wesley Van Auken. Besides Mrs. Angle she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Joseph Layton, of Dingman's, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held from Mrs. Angle's home Tuesday afternoon at 2 p. m. Burial was at Dingman's, PA.Sussex Independent Friday, December 16, 1932.
