· The Bradford Landmark Society posted this picture on Facebook a year or so ago. It's a reunion of Civil War vets, photo taken in front of the St. James Hotel in Bradford on Memorial Day, 1888. I looked closely at it and nearly fell off my chair. There's a little girl standing among the men on the right side of the picture and I'm positive it's my grandmother Joecelia FitzGerald Enright. She stands with her hand on the shoulder of one of the men, her father Michael FitzGerald no doubt. He served in the Civil War as a member of the New York 4th Heavy Artillery. Unfortunately, this is only a photo of the original picture and it's very low res. The Landmark Society has no idea where the original photo is now. I was wondering if any of you hard-core historians might have a better version of the picture.

This is a very special picture. Wouldn't it be terrific if we knew the names of the veterans...b

That’s one of the reasons I wish there was a higher res version-there might be a chance of IDing some of these guys.

This motivates me to upload group school n reunion pics that have all names listed. A shame to have lost theses names.

I went back and found the original post. Levi Seward/Seaward was identified as the man second from left in the front row, and Michael FitzGerald would be third from the right in the middle row. Michael was born in Ireland in 1843, grew up in Wheatland NY, and ended up in the Bradford area in the mid-1870s working on oil leases. He died in 1921.
