Evelyn Dawn Grabe Petree passed peacefully into Eternal Life October 14th.
Born January 10, 1915, Evelyn spent nearly 102 years helping others and serving the Lord she loved. Born in Pennsylvania, her family moved to Holly Hill, Florida when she was nine. In 1937, she received her RN from Fort Sanders.
- In 1939, she married James Anderson Petree and lived in Knoxville until 2004 when she moved to Spotsylvania, Virginia to live with daughter, Anne and son-in-law Tim Tarzier. She inspired all who knew her by her graciousness, humor and deep faith in God. She was an excellent nurse, devoted mother and grandmother, gifted seamstress, gardener and cook. Most of all she was a committed Christian and faithful member of Central Baptist Church Fountain City for over 60 years. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, parents and brothers.
Left to grieve but to rejoice in a life well-lived are two daughters and sons-in-law,
- Susan Petree Harvey and
- Thomas Harvey and
- Anne Petree Tarzier and
- Tim Tarzier.
She was an integral part of the lives of four grandchildren,
- Kristin Oliver McIver (Scott),
- Leslie Oliver Mills,
- Eric Tarzier (Tina), and
- Lauren Tarzier Rivas (Gerald).
She had eight great-grandchildren,
- Eric and Chelsea McIver,
- Drake and Katie Mills,
- Michael Webber,
- Catherine, Marissa and Corey Tarzier.
She also had three great-great-grandchildren,
- Madeline, David and Jack Webber.
She was held dear by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be remembered with love by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held November 18th at 11:00 at Central Baptist Church Fountain City.
- Burial will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Greenwood Cemetery on Tazwell Pike.
