WEDNESDAY, APRTL 5, 17 SHINGLEHOUSE Mrs. Arthur Haynes, Reporter OWen 72434 Harper - Dingham Wedding Held At Shinglehouse Miss Dorothy Jean Dingham of Washington, D. C. was united in marriage to Marine Sgt. John Eugene Harper of Quantico, Va., Saturday, March 25, 1967, at 2:00 p.m. in the Shinglehouse First Baptist Church. The Rev. M. H Vincent performed the ceremony for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Ding-man, Little Genesee, N.Y., and the son of Mrs. Jessie Harper, Miami, Okla., and Harry Harper, Pratt, Kan. Michael Dingman, brother of the bride, was soloist. He was accompanied at the organ by Miss Nancy Perkins of Millport. For her marriage, the bride wore a white velvet floor-length gown designed with a fitted lace bodice, scalloped neckline and bell-shaped sleeves. The A-line skirt was accented with a velvet bow in the back. Her crown of pearls and aurora borealis held her elbow-length veil of illusion. She carried a white Bible topped with an arrangement of white roses with streamers. Mrs. Roger Wilson of Shinglehouse was matron of honor for her sister. Bridesmaid was Miss Claims, in Washington. Her husband is a graduate of Hays High School, Hays, Kan., and is a sergeant in the Marine Corps. The couple is driving to Camp Pendleton, Calif, where they will be making their home. Sergeant John E. Thompson Training With Marines Marine Sergeant John E. Thompson son of Mrs. Virginia H. Thompson of Star Route, Shinglehouse, took part in field, tactical training exercises at Camp Pickett, Va., as a member of the second Marine Regiment, Second Marine Division from Camp Lejeune, N.C. The exercise was named "Shamrock," and ran for two weeks. While at Camp Pickett, the Marines lived in the field, and trained in scouting, patrolling, conventional Marine Corps maneuvers, helicopter movements, and tank-infantry operations. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Mix Are Parents of A Son Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Mix are the parents of a son born March 27 at the Olean General Hospital. Shinglehouse Locals Ross Leftler and son Edward and Rita Wilcox of East Aurora, N.Y. spent Easter Sunday with the formers daughter Mrs. Marie Brown and tamily Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm McClea- Beverly Podiak of Washington, D. Ihan and family of Waterford, Mich. C. Londa Lvn Dingham. niece 0f I spent the Easter weekend with her the bride, was the flower girl. The attendants were attired in identically styled gowns of pink chiffon with skirts featuring Empire waistlines with lace bodices. Their headpieces were pink bows with face veils and they carried bouquets of pink carnations. James Dingham, brother of the bride, Shinglehouse, was best man. Ushering guests were Roger Wilson, Tom Bean, Shinglehouse; and Bob Palmatier, Coudersport. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Dingman selected a grey and white sheath dress with black and white accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a light green knit suit with black accessories. A reception, attended by 150 guests, was held in the Shinglehouse Fire Hall. The bride was graduated from Oswayo Valley High School and Olean Business Institute. She was employed as a secretary in the Department of Justice, Court of grandmother Mrs. Lucy Buchanan and aunt Miss Ruth Buchanan. Mrs. Arthur Haynes and grand children Kim, Jimmy, David and Debbie Clark were guests of Mrs. Violet Haynes, Sunday evening. I Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Sloat and children and Mrs. and Mrs. Kenneth Sloat were .dinner guests of Mrs. Leona Hale, Sunday Mrs. Emma Haynes was a guest of her son Arthur Havnes and fam ily, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Soules of Denver were guests of Mrs. Arthur Haynes, Wednesday. Miss Mary Howard spent several days the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Butts of Rochester. Dennis G. Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Phillips recently completed a 60 weeks electronic technician course at DeVry Technical Institute, Chicago. He was awarded a diploma in applied science.
