Alphonsus Herbstritt
Alphonsus G. Herbstritt, 64, of Austin died Monday (June 6, 1976) in Port Allegany Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born at St. Marys on March 31, 1912, he was a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Lavey Herbstritt.
On July 18, 1964, at Austin, he married the former Eva Stuckey, who died Feb. 10, 1972.
Mr. Herbstritt was employed in the maintenance department at Emporium Specialties Co., Austin, prior to his retirement. He had resided in Austin since 1945, and prior to that in Coudersport and St. Marys.
He was a veteran of WW II, serving with the Army. He was a member of the Austin VFW Post 7810, Austin Vets Club, Potter Post 192, American Legion; Post 192 Club, Voiture Post, 32 40 and 8; and Lodge 460, Loyal Order of the Moose, Port Allegany.
Surviving are his mother of Cole Memorial Hospital extended care facility;
- a step-son Floyd O'Dell, Slatington;
- a step-daughter, Mrs. Walter (Judith) Kajut, Apollo;
nine step-grandchildren;
four brothers,
- Theodore Herbstritt, Angola, NY;
- Lewis Herbstritt, St. Marys,
- Edward Herbstritt, Austin RD, and
- Richard Herbstritt, Meadville;
two sisters,
- Mrs. Vivian Nelson, Coudersport and
- Mrs. James (Verna) Haskins, Angola, NY;
and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. tonight at the Grabe-Fickinger Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated tomorrow at St. Augustine's Church, Austin, with the Rev. W. Robert Griffin, pastor, as celebrant.
- Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Costello.
The Rosary will be recited tonight at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Austin VFW Post 7810.
