WWII Veteran
Peter A. Chastain, IV, 86, of Cow Hollow Rd., Roulette, PA, passed away Tuesday (Nov. 19, 2013) peacefully at home, with his family by his side.
Born December 16, 1926, in Roulette, PA, he was a son of Peter A. and Cleo L. Haskins Chastain, III.
- On Mar. 3, 1947, in Hagerstown, MD, he married Evelyn E. Nelson, who died Nov. 18, 2003. They were married 56 years.
Peter had been employed at Sealtest Co. of Erie, Sunny Brook of Bradford, and had been in maintenance with Pierce Glass Co., Port Allegany. Most recently he was co-owner of the ABC Motel & Restaurant from 1974-1993, before his retirement.
Mr. Chastain was a veteran of WWII, having served in the US Navy.
He was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Roulette High School, Class of 1944.
Peter was a member of the Riverside Methodist Church of Roulette, Roulette Fire Department, VFW Post 6391 and American Legion Post 258, both of Port Allegany.
Surviving are three sons,
- Peter A. (Cindy) Chastain, V, of Bradford,
- Dale A. (Debbie) Chastain and
- Patrick H. (Michelle) Chastain both of Port Allegany;
five daughters,
- Carol L. (Gary) Rose,
- Linda D. (Mark) Gustafson both of Port Allegany,
- Greta M. (Thomas) Tanner of Knox, PA,
- Pamela R. (William) Keys of Dubois,
- Mary E. (Kelly) Unser of Superior, CO;
23 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren; 34 great grand-children, 7 step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Evelyn,
- a brother, Leon A. Chastain;
- a sister, Katherine A. Brown.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (Nov. 22, 2013) in the Riverside Methodist Church, with Rev. Donald Busch, pastor, officiating.
- Burial will be in Hill Cemetery, Roulette.
Memorials can be made to the Riverside Methodist Church or Potter County Hospice.

Peter A. Chastain
Peter A. Chastain, V, 72, of Fessenden Rd., passed away peacefully Monday (Apr. 20, 2020) in his home, surrounded by family.
Born October 14, 1947, in Coudersport, he was a son of Peter A. and Evelyn E. Nelson Chastain. On June 14, 1986, in Bradford, he married Cindy A. Patterson, who died Mar. 2, 2015.
Peter was a lifetime resident of the area, and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1965.
He was a pharmacist for several area hospitals before his retirement.
He was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Port Allegany, American Legion Post 108, and VFW Post 212, both of Bradford.
Surviving are three sons,
-Scott A. Chastain of Pittsburgh, PA,
-Jake F. Chastain of Edinboro, PA, and
-Eric K. Chastain;
two brothers,
-Dale A. (Debbie) Chastain and
-Patrick H. (Michelle) Chastain both of Port Allegany;
five sisters,
- Carol L. Rose of Port Allegany,
-Greta M. (Thomas) Tanner of Knox, PA,
-Pamela R. Keys of Dubois, PA,
-Linda D. (Mark) Gustafson of Port Allegany, and
-Mary E. (Kelly) Unser of Evansville, IN;
five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cindy, and
-a daughter, Suzy Chastain, who died 1977.
At Peter’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.

So sad to hear of this. Pete was one of the nicest, friendliest and gentle souls I've ever known. His infectious smile and warm laugh were nearly as curative as the medicines he filled.
My condolences to his family and may he rest in peace.

I was shocked to see Petes passing notice. I worked with both Pete & Cindy for years ar BRMC,stood up for Cindy at their wedding. Pete was one of the kindest, compassionate people I know. A great pharmacist as well. I'm sure he's greatly missed by his family, Dale, you're in my thoughts.
