Walton gates frequently rode the train from Coudersport to Port Allegany on Wednesday afternoons when his store was closed. He probably met Estell there. He owned Gates Brothers' Store with his brother Harrison. She worked in Bell Brothers Store in Olean before she was married to Mr. Lown.
