Just before the receipt of the fatal message, the father F. E. Neefe, received word that the son was ill, and he was arranging to go to him when the news came that he had passed away. Mr. Neefe was in his very prime and had everything to make life happy. For some time he had been engaged in the insurance work and was well known in the business world of the capital city. Leon Neefe was the elder son of F. E. Neefe and was born in Coudersport forty years ago this month. He attended school here and began his business life in Coudersport. For a time he was employed in the Deiches clothing store and he is known and highly regarded by every one here. About twenty years ago he was married to Miss Alma Sible, daughter of John Sible of Harrisburg. To them two children have been born: - Leon, Jr., aged eighteen, and - Dorothy, aged eight years. These children with the mother survive. Also the father, F. E. Neefe and one brother, - Donald. Funeral and burial services were held in Harrisburg on Monday. The father and brother and the latter's wife went to Harrisburg Saturday. The bereaved family have the sympathy of many friends and the people of Coudersport particularly sympathize with the father who recently lost his wife by death and whose health is delicate. He surely has been called upon to pass through deep affliction. Schmidt the show manager, announced today. - The postponement was decided on by those in charge at a meeting this morning because of the death yesterday of Leon F. Neefe, of this city, vice governor of the Kiwanis Clubs of Pennsylvania and former president of the Harrisburg Kiwanis Club. - All arrangements which had been made for Monday night will be carried out on the following evening, when a luncheon meeting will precede the formal opening of the show. It is planned to have the 136 mem-ben of the Kiwanis Club dine at the Penn-Harrls at 6 o'clock. This will be followed by a short street parade at 7 o'clock with the Municipal Band at the head of the procession. After the parade the members will go to the Chestnut Street Auditorium so that the show., can be opened promptly at 7.30 o'clock. Dr. Robert Bagnell. pastor of Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, officiating. - Burial will be In the Harrisburg cemetery. Mr. Neefe had been in the Insurance business here for the last seven years, with offices at 117 Chestnut street. He was taken ill with double pneumonia just a week ago while at work, and had not visited his offices since. He was prominent in Kiwanis Club circles of the State and city, having recently been elected vice-governor of the State Association of Kiwanis Clubs, at the convention held in Altoona. He was president of the local Kiwanis Club last year, and was a member of the Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce and of the local lodge of Elks. He was a typical, aggressive young business man of the day and of an optimistic, cheery personality which made him very popular. He was generally known among his business and club aasoctates by the nickname of "The Baron." Born in Coudersport, Potter County, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Neefe, he came to this city eighteen years ago to take a position with the State Highway Department, as chief clerk...
