Laura Baker Smart Passes From Life Friday, December 4
Well Known Woman, Born 77 Years Ago, Was Daughter of Late Isaac Baker of This Place.
The Death Angel relieved Laura Baker Smart from pain and illness at the County Home, Friday December 4, where she had received care and treatment for several years. The cause of death is given as old age.
Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Baker of Coudersport and she was born at Spencerville, Ohio, 77 years ago. As a young woman she married William E. Smart and they resided in Ohio and Illinois before locating here. He passed away some years ago.
Surviving are three children:
- Mrs. Cora Mills, Cuba, N. Y.;
- Mrs. Bertie Reagan, Augusta, Ga.;
- Mrs. Flossie Porter, Lima, Ohio. The last named was adopted.
Mrs. Smart was a member of the Baptist Church. The Rev. R. W. Wing conducted funeral service from the Schutt Funeral Home, Sunday, and
- interment was made in Eulalia Cemetery.
ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT OF TWO DAUGHTERS
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice C. Swift, Coneville, announce the engagements of their two daughters, Miss Marian G. Swift and Miss M. Maurine Swift. Miss Marian is to become the bride of Clifford Hackett, grandson of Mrs. Henry Hackett, of Ceres, and Miss Maurine will wed Private H. Jack Estes, son of Mrs. Viva K. Estes of Oswayo. Private Estes is now stationed at Fort Eustis, Virginia. No date has been set for either wedding.
