Alberta Guenther was saved from drowning in 1927 by Robert Edwards: Clipped from The Potter Enterprise, 12 May 1927, Thu, Page 1- UNFORTUNATE HIKE The Kings Heralds and Standard Bearers of the M. E. Church, chaperoned by Mrs. M. Lougeay, planned a hiking party last Saturday. All went well until the children, 18 strong, attempted to cross the foot bridge at Colcord's grove, when Alberta Guenther and Ruth Taubert fell into the Allegheny river. The river was unusually high owing to the recent rains, and but for the timely aid of
Robert Edwards
who went to the rescue, no doubt the girls might have been drowned. The girls were taken to the home of Mrs. Julius Colcord who provided them with dry clothing and all went on to Dingman Run where they roasted weiners and marshmallows forgetting the unfortunate accident.
