Obituary for Myra Whitney White Buckley, dated 7 Jan - 8 Jan 2008, published in "Newsday," Melville, New York:
BUCKLEY - Myra Whitney White, on Monday, December 31, 2007 in Burke, VA.
Beloved wife of Raymond J. Buckley, Jr.
She is survived by four children;
- David White,
- Stephanie Schoen,
- Jonathan White, and
- Sydney Mills from her marriage to Wilson E. White, who predeceased her in 1975.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Born January 28, 1920, she attended Bradford High School in Bradford, PA where she achieved the Girl Scout rank of Golden Eaglet, and received the DAR Citizenship Award.
Mrs. Buckley was a 1942 graduate of Alfred University, Alfred, NY and was a member of Theta Theta Chi sorority. Upon graduation she worked for an affiliate of the National Broadcasting Corporation at Rockefeller Center in New York City.
After raising four children, she began her teaching career at West Springfield High School in Springfield, VA. She served as the Business Department Chair and retired from Fairfax County Public Schools in 1984. Her service organizations included Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Alfred Alumni Association.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, January 12, 2008, at the All Saints Episcopal Church, Brookland, PA.
- Burial will follow immediately in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, c/o Joan Sampson, Treasurer, Ulysses, PA 16948.
