Miss Hill, H. B. Lincoln Issue osiery SViiEI Announces Action Miss Eleanor Hill yesterday submitted her written resignation as president and general manager of Brownhill & Kramer. The resignation was directed to the board of directors, to be acted upon at the earliest possible meeting of that body. She remains as a director and treasurer. In addition, the Enterprise learns Miss Hill will undoubtedly be appointed assistant to the new president. According to a release furnished this paper explaining the action, these, in substance, are Miss Hill's views : "It is considered in our industry, the women's full fashioned business has just about reached the climax of its worst depression in history. Through' these years of depression, it has been a terrible struggle to Statements Volunteers Contribute Labor To Church Structure The Rev. Arthur J. Leon, pastor at St. Eulalia's Church, ,said Monday that with a break in the weather the new building being erected on the south side of the Catholic Church would be under a roof by the first week in November. The Rev. Father Leon also stated that most of the labor was being furnished by volunteer help. Up to Moinday of this week he counted 1,100 hours put in by members of the church until late in the night the noise of the hammer and chisel can be heard. GOP political candidates .in the upcoming election nailed Democrats to the mast of inefficiency, reneged promises, wastefulness and general unfitness at a dinner rally Friday night at Potato City. Attendance was put at over 350.
Three members of the State ticket, together with Congressman Alvin R. Bush, Sen. James S. Berger and Ray C. Goodrich, Roulette, candidate for State Representative, were heard. Palmer R. Chitester, county Republican Committee Chairman, presided.
State-wide candidate, presented by Senator Berger, included G. Harold Watkins, candidate for superior court; Charles C. Smith, candidate for auditor general, and Robert F. Kent, seeking the treasurer's post.
Sen. James H. Duff, incumbent United States Senator and candidate for re-election, was unable to attend. He had been called to New York City by the State and national party committees to make television shorts, it was explained.
Benjamin Jones, candidate for, supreme court, also was unable to attend.
The assemblage included Rep. Albert Johnson, McKean County; Harry Mclnroy, Tioga County State Representative; Howard H. Glenn, Coudersport, State Committeeman; William H. Biesel, finance chairman, county committee; Mrs. G. A. Mitchell, vice chairman, county committee; Don Freeman, chairman, Citizens for Eisenhower in Potter County; Mrs. Edward Fisher, chairman, Women for Eisenhower. Also, G. Robert Heimel, chairman. Veterans for Eisenhower; Mrs. Jack Frink, chairman, Veterans' Auxiliary Committee for Elsenhower; Mrs. Paul Toombs, president, Coudersport Council of Republican Women; John A. Duvall, chairman, Young Republican Club of Potter County.
Also, Judge Walter P. Wells and former judge Robert R. Lewis. All were Introduced by Mr. Chitester.
Keynote of speeches was the urgency of returning Dwight D. Eisenhower to the White House. Seen as subordinate but given almost equal weight was the importance of giving Eisenhower a Republican Congress. At the State level, a GOP-controlled House and Senate was called vital 'if Pennsylvania's "extravagant governor is to be curbed for the next two years."
