WOMAN DIES FROM SLASH OF RAZOR
Mrs. Roy Vergason, in ill Health, Fatally Injured Herself at Home Here.
Mrs. Roy Vergason passed away at the Coudersport General Hospital Sunday morning at 10:00 o'clock. She had been in ill health for some time but she had given members of the family no warning that she had in mind self-destruction. Saturday morning about 8:30 her daughter, Mrs. Hilda Hall, heard something fall in the bathroom of the family home. She hurried there and found her mother on the floor and bleeding from a deeply slashed throat.
Dr. H. C. Mosch responded quickly to a call and gave first aid. The local hospital was called and within five minutes after arrival blood loss was being replaced with salt solution and within 20 minutes a blood donor had been found and a transfusion was being made. William Grigsby gave the blood for the first transfusion and Mrs. Vergason's son, Durward, gave for the second.
It was hoped her life could be saved and everything possible was done but the end came Sunday morning.
Mrs. Vergason was Mina, daughter of Joseph Johnson and Eleanor Fowler Johnson. She was born at Coudersport January 4, 1891. She is survived by
- her husband,
- her mother,
two daughters and a son. The children are
- Mrs. Lillian Adams of Bradford,
- Mrs. Hilda Hall and
- Durward Vergason of Coudersport.
- One sister, Mrs. Oscar Maynard, also survives.
Funeral services, with Rev. R. F. Walters of the Free Methodist Church officiating, were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with
- burial in the Eulalia Cemetery.
