Joan Richardson SHINGLEHOUSE - Joan Calhoun Richardson, 72, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Wednesday (July 11, 2012) in Bradford Ecumenical Home, Bradford, after a lengthy illness. Born Oct. 9, 1939, in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of Marvin O. and Lotus I. Foster Calhoun. On Oct. 11, 1986, in Bastrop, Texas, she married Rich M. Richardson, who died on Oct. 5, 1999. Mrs. Richardson was a 1958 graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Shinglehouse. She was a life member of the former Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a social member of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530. She was a snowmobile and motorcycle enthusiast. Mrs. Richardson enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing, having made several dance dresses. She loved to square dance and line dance. Her greatest love was her family. Surviving are three daughters, - Lori (Craig Bixby) Maxson of Indianapolis, Ind., - Londa Dingman Wilson of Olean, N.Y. and - Lainie Dingman (David) Kephart of Eldred; six grandchildren, Rikki Rosseli, Kyle Sturdevant, Paul Wilson, Dustin Wilson and Shawn Wetherby and Sharda Wetherby; - a great-granddaughter, Aleena Rosseli; six step-grandchildren; two brothers, - Lee M. (Sue) Calhoun of Sodus, N.Y. and - Thomas F. (Judy) Calhoun of Bolivar, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 S. Union St., Shinglehouse. The Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 98, Shinglehouse, PA 16748. Calhoun, 91, of Coudersport, formerly of Shinglehouse and Oswayo, passed away Wednesday (Dec. 16, 2015) in the Skilled Nursing Facility of Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport. Born on May 14, 1924, in Raymond, she was a daughter of Floyd and Myra Galpin Perkins. On Aug. 30, 1941, in Ulysses, she married Warren H. Calhoun, who passed away June 13, 2001. Mrs. Calhoun was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School. She was employed by the former Midland Optical in Coudersport and later owned and operated Blanche's Cut 'N Sew Fabric Shop in Sharon Center. Blanche served as the activities director at the former Hewitt Manor in Shinglehouse. Blanche was a charter member of the Hebron Union Church in Coudersport. She served as a monitor at the Hebron Center Christian School. She loved to cook and bake. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. Her greatest loves were her family and the Lord. Surviving are a son, Ricky D. (Amanda) Calhoun of Friendship; three daughters, Jan K. (Dave) Clark of Noblesville, Ind., Jayne R. (Jim) Buchanan of Shinglehouse and Barbara L. (Harold) Kiel of Genesee; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna (Robert) Watson of Olean; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Calhoun was predeceased by five brothers, Dorr Perkins, Rueben Perkins, Robert Perkins, Lloyd Perkins and Floyd Perkins Jr.; and six sisters, Elizabeth Hamilton, Myrtle Smith, Gertie Freelove, Phyllis Thompson and Ruth Tambash.
