Merle and Frances Kuenn Cornell. On Aug. 17, 1968, in Franklinville, he married the former Agnes Southwick, who survives. Mr. Cornell was a 1955 graduate of Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961. He was employed in the banking business for 37 years, first working for First National Bank of Olean in 1961. He went on to be branch manager of Manufacturer's Hanover Bank in Portville and Olean. He was also employed by Chemical Bank, Chase Bank, and Fleet Bank. He retired from Chase Manhattan Bank in 1995. He then went to work for First Tier Bank and Trust Company in Olean, where he was currently employed. Mr. Cornell was a member of he Franklinville Tree Commission, the Franklinville Masonic Lodge 626 F&AM and Boneka Chapter 522 Order of the Eastern Star where he had served as past district grand lecturer and past patron. He was member of the Coudersport Consistory and of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Franklinville where he had been organist for 38 years. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends, playing the piano and organ. He also enjoyed singing for various occasions. In addition to this wife, Mr. Cornell is survived by - a daughter, Carolyn (Brent) Friend of Norristown, Pa.; - a son, Nate Cornell of Franklinville; - a granddaughter; - a brother Darrin (Elva) Cornell of Wellsville; a niece; a nephew; and several aunts and uncles. Merle Cornell of 2351 Penn St., Harrisburg, a former resident of Franklinville, N.Y., died Saturday (May 24, 1986) in the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, after a lengthy illness. Born Aug. 29, 1907, in Ridgway, Pa., he was a son of Edwin and Caroline Golden Darrin. He was adopted by Franklin and Marietta Lewis Cornell. In 1948, in Franklinville, he married the former Frances Kuenn, who died Dec. 8, 1972. On Jan. 3, 1974, he married the former Cecil Rogers Norton, who died June 18, 1984. A graduate of Lock Haven State Teachers College, Mr. Cornell had taught school in Pennsylvania for 15 years. He was a plant manager for the Gray Chemical Co. in Roulette and the Susquehanna Chemical Co. in Bradford until 1949. Mr. Cornell had also been employed by the Electrical Reactance Co. of Franklinville and by the Ontario Knife Co. from 1951 until his retirement as assistant sales manager in 1973. He was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Mission of Franklinville, was a member and past master of Eulalia Lodge 342 F&AM of Coudersport, was a member of the Coudersport Consistory and was an honorary member of Franklinville Lodge 626 F&AM. Mr. Cornell served as town justice of Franklinville, received the Boy Scouts Silver Beaver Award and was on the Executive Board of the Seneca Council of Boy Scouts of America. Surviving are two sons, - Edwin J. Cornell of Franklinville and - Darrin W. FRANKLINVILLE - Edwin J. Cornell of First Avenue died Saturday (Feb. 6, 1999) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a brief illness.
Born July 7, 1937 in Port Allegany, Pa., he was a son of E. Merle and Frances Kuenn Cornell.
On Aug. 17, 1968, in Franklinville, he married the former Agnes Southwick, who survives.
Mr. Cornell was a 1955 graduate of Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961.
He was employed in the banking business for 37 years, first working for First National Bank of Olean in 1961. He went on to be branch manager of Manufacturer's Hanover Bank in Portville and Olean. He was also employed by Chemical Bank, Chase Bank, and Fleet Bank. He retired from Chase Manhattan Bank in 1995. He then went to work for First Tier Bank and Trust Company in Olean, where he was currently employed.
Mr. Cornell was a member of he Franklinville Tree Commission, the Franklinville Masonic Lodge 626 F&AM and Boneka Chapter 522 Order of the Eastern Star where he had served as past district grand lecturer and past patron. He was member of the Coudersport Consistory and of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Franklinville where he had been organist for 38 years.
He enjoyed time spent with family and friends, playing the piano and organ. He also enjoyed singing for various occasions.

In addition to this wife, Mr. Cornell is survived by
- a daughter, Carolyn (Brent) Friend of Norristown, Pa.;
- a son, Nate Cornell of Franklinville;
- a granddaughter;
- a brother Darrin (Elva) Cornell of Wellsville;
a niece; a nephew; and several aunts and uncles.

Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Babbitt and Eaton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville. Funeral services will be held Thursday (Feb. 11, 1999) at 11 a.m. in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church on the corner of Main and Green Streets in Franklinville. The Rev. Paul Henderson, pastor, and the Rev. Peter Phear, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Prospect Cemetery in Franklinville.
A Masonic service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to he St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of the First Baptist Church of Franklinville or to a charity of the donor's choice."

He was employed in the banking business for 37 years, first working for First National Bank of Olean in 1961. He went on to be branch manager of Manufacturer's Hanover Bank in Portville and Olean. He was also employed by Chemical Bank, Chase Bank, and Fleet Bank. He retired from Chase Manhattan Bank in 1995. He then went to work for First Tier Bank and Trust Company in Olean, where he was currently employed.
Mr. Cornell was a member of he Franklinville Tree Commission, the Franklinville Masonic Lodge 626 F&AM and Boneka Chapter 522 Order of the Eastern Star where he had served as past district grand lecturer and past patron. He was member of the Coudersport Consistory and of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Franklinville where he had been organist for 38 years.
He enjoyed time spent with family and friends, playing the piano and organ. He also enjoyed singing for various occasions.

In addition to this wife, Mr. Cornell is survived by
- a daughter, Carolyn (Brent) Friend of Norristown, Pa.;
- a son, Nate Cornell of Franklinville;
- a granddaughter;
- a brother Darrin (Elva) Cornell of Wellsville;
a niece; a nephew; and several aunts and uncles.

"HARRISBURG, Pa. - E. Merle Cornell of 2351 Penn St., Harrisburg, a former resident of Franklinville, N.Y., died Saturday (May 24, 1986) in the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, after a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 29, 1907, in Ridgway, Pa., he was a son of Edwin and Caroline Golden Darrin.
He was adopted by Franklin and Marietta Lewis Cornell.
In 1948, in Franklinville, he married the former Frances Kuenn, who died Dec. 8, 1972.
On Jan. 3, 1974, he married the former Cecil Rogers Norton, who died June 18, 1984.

A graduate of Lock Haven State Teachers College, Mr. Cornell had taught school in Pennsylvania for 15 years.
He was a plant manager for the Gray Chemical Co. in Roulette and the Susquehanna Chemical Co. in Bradford until 1949. Mr. Cornell had also been employed by the Electrical Reactance Co. of Franklinville and by the Ontario Knife Co. from 1951 until his retirement as assistant sales manager in 1973.
He was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Mission of Franklinville, was a member and past master of Eulalia Lodge 342 F&AM of Coudersport, was a member of the Coudersport Consistory and was an honorary member of Franklinville Lodge 626 F&AM.
Mr. Cornell served as town justice of Franklinville, received the Boy Scouts Silver Beaver Award and was on the Executive Board of the Seneca Council of Boy Scouts of America.

two sons, - Edwin J. Cornell of Franklinville and
- Darrin W. Cornell of Wellsville, N.Y.;
three grandchildren;
seven sisters, - Mrs. Reuben (Helen) Himes and
- Miss Phyllis Darrin, both of Coudersport,
- Mrs. Peter (Marthadell) Bradley of Long Beach, Calif.,
- Mrs. Lloyd (Ethel) Cunningham of Las Vegas, Nev.,
- Mrs. William (Gertrude) Cannon of Bradford,
- Mrs. William (Ruth) Tingley of Olean, N.Y., and
- Mrs. Arthur (Harriett) Habermehl of Buffalo, N.Y.;
three brothers, - Howard Darrin and
- James Darrin, both of Buffalo, and
- Joseph Darrin of Coudersport;
and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Babbitt and Allen Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (May 28, 1986) at 11 a.m. in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, N. Main St., Franklinville. The Rev. Sven Warner, vicar, will officiate.

FRANKLINVILLE -- Mrs. Frances M. Cornell of 21 Chestnut St., died Friday (Dec. 8, 1972) in the Olean General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in the Town of Cambria, Dec. 16, 1908, she was a daughter of William and Blanche Whitney Kuenn.
On July 11, 1948, she married E. Merle Cornell, who survives.

Mrs. Cornell was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Mission of Franklinville; past president of its Church Women and current president of the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Associate Board of Directors of the Episcopal Church Home of Buffalo; a member of Boneka Chapter 522, Order of Eastern Star and a member and past president of the Philomatic Club, both of Franklinville.
Friends are being received at the Babbitt and Allen Funeral Home Inc., 7 N. Main St., Franklinville, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held Monday (Dec. 11, 1972) at 2:30 p.m. in St. Barnabus Episcopal Mission preceded by a prayer service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Warren S. Outerbridge, rector, will officiate.
