Edward Nelson Stebbins was a young officer, one of the honor guards in the White House for the remains of President Abraham Lincoln... Edward was also a witness to the burial of John Wilkes Booth.
OBITUARY NOTICE AS WRITTEN AT E N STEBBINS DEATH...
Major E N Stebbins was born at Hammondsport, NY on October 27, 1835;
about 1850 the Family moved to Coudersport, PA and in the Public Schools of this city received his education;
1855 the family moved to Green Bay, WI where he engaged in the Mercantile business.
Returned to New York and the to Bridgeport, CT where he met Mary Treat Clapp, whom he married.
Edward married Mary Treat CLAPP, daughter of Stillman Sprague CLAPP and Elizabeth LAMB on 2 Oct 1866 in Bridgeport, CT.
Mary was born on 3 Dec 1841 in New York City, NY.
She died on 4 Feb 1909 in Barron, WI.
They had the following children:

FORMER RESIDENT PASSES
Coudersport friends and relatives have received word of the death of Edward Nelson Stebbins, who passed away at his home in Barron Wis., April 25. He came to Coudersport with his parents about 1880 and grew up here, going to Barron about 1891. He was the second son of Edward N. Stebbins and Mary Treat Stebbins. He was a member of the Episcopal Church and a past master of the local Masonic Lodge. He was 66 and succumbed after an attack of grippe.

COUDERSPORT COUPLE WED
Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Lignian are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Beatrice Elizabeth, to Daniel Faygar Glassmire, Jr., which was solemnized Saturday, April 29, at the rectory of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bloomsburg. Rev. Earl M. Hanaman officiated.
On Sunday the bride and groom were guests of honor at a family dinner at the home of the former's aunt, Mrs. Robert Deily, in Allentown, at which also were the bride's mother and grandmother, Mrs. M. G. Lignian of Coudersport.
The groom is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Glassmire, Sr., of Inez. Both he and his bride are graduates of Coudersport High School. At present Mrs. Glassmire is employed in the office of the Department of Public Assistance.
